NRNA Australia to Resume Membership Distribution Process, Focus on Inclusive Leadership
Kathmandu – The Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) Australia has decided to resume its membership distribution process in an effort to build an inclusive, impartial, and unified organization.
According to NRNA International Coordination Council (ICC) General Secretary B.R. Lama, Vivek Thapa has been entrusted with the responsibility of organizing a unity general convention based on the recommendation of a high-level committee formed by the ICC. Lama stated that the current executive committee failed to show interest in inclusive membership procedures and attempted to enforce unilateral decisions, leading to the formation of a new organizing committee.
Oceania Regional Coordinator (RC) Irsad Ahmed shared that the initiative aims to include more than 15,000 NRNs in Australia who missed out or were unable to obtain membership through the MIS system. He emphasized the importance of dialogue, inclusive participation, and transparency to resolve the ongoing issues.
Unity Convention Coordinator Vivek Thapa appealed for cooperation from all sides to make NRNA Australia one of the most exemplary and united national coordination councils globally.
Earlier, a unity general convention held in Kathmandu on May 3–4, 2025, elected a new executive committee under the leadership of Mahesh Kumar Shrestha. Inspired by the spirit of that convention, Australia will also move forward with a new leadership selection process based on consensus and participation from all stakeholders.
