Iran Claims to Have Doubled Weapon Production

Tehran. Iran has claimed that it doubled its production of weapons and defense equipment over the past year. Reza Talaei-Nik, spokesperson for Iran’s Ministry of Defense, stated this during an interview with the state television channel IRIB on Friday.

According to Talaei-Nik, since the outbreak of war in late February, the production of certain strategic military materials and equipment has increased by more than three times. He claimed that despite strikes on limited defense industry infrastructure during the 12-day war with Israel in June, Iran’s manufacturing capacity has expanded significantly.

He emphasized that strengthening military capability is necessary to confront the risk of external aggression against Iran’s independence. According to Iranian officials, the United States and Israel launched joint strikes on Tehran and various other cities on February 28.

In response, Iran launched missile and drone strikes targeting Israel and U.S. military bases across the Middle East. A ceasefire was reached between the warring parties on April 8, followed by a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed on June 18 between Iran and the U.S. aimed at ending the regional conflict. Under the agreement, negotiations were intended to conclude within 60 days to reach a final deal. However, Iranian sources stated that insufficient progress was made by August 17, and tensions remain ongoing between both sides. — CCTV
