India Celebrates 80th Independence Day

Kathmandu. India is celebrating its 80th Independence Day today. India is marking this year's Independence Day with various programs to commemorate its independence from British rule on August 15, 1947.

On the occasion of Independence Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tribute to the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, at Rajghat in New Delhi this morning. Remembering the sacrifices of the freedom fighters who contributed to the independence movement, he extended his best wishes to the countrymen.

Prime Minister Modi is scheduled to hoist the national flag and address the nation from the historic Red Fort in Delhi on Saturday. This will be Modi's 13th consecutive Independence Day address from the Red Fort.

This year's Independence Day ceremony places special significance on the 150th anniversary of the national song, 'Vande Mataram'. For the first time, 'Vande Mataram' will be performed collectively from the Red Fort during the event. Additionally, the role of youth power in building a 'Viksit Bharat (Developed India)–2047' will be prominently featured.

Personnel from the Indian Army, Navy, Air Force, and Delhi Police will present a Guard of Honor at the ceremony. A 21-gun salute will also be given during the hoisting of the flag.

Around 2,500 students from the Army, Navy, and Air Force, along with volunteers from 'MY Bharat', will participate in the ceremony. Seated at Gyan Path, they will form the shape of the words 'Vande Mataram'.

On this occasion, around 5,000 special guests from various fields have also been invited. Women entrepreneurs, sanitation workers, street vendors, young innovators, scientists, startup founders, artists, farmers, students, and beneficiaries of government schemes will attend the ceremony. — ANI
