Continuous Bomb Blasts and Arson in Dhaka

Kathmandu. In Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh, bomb explosions and arson targeting public transportation occurred for the second consecutive day. On Saturday alone, six bombs exploded in the Jatrabari and Kamalapur areas, and three buses were set on fire.

Around 7:40 PM on Saturday, four bombs exploded in front of the Samad Super Market in Jatrabari, injuring a rickshaw driver. A few hours later, two more bombs exploded further down platform number 2 of the Kamalapur Railway Station. Police reported no casualties in the railway station incident.

Bomb blasts were also reported in various parts of Dhaka a day prior, on Friday. Explosions were recorded near Jatrabari Police Station, Malibagh, Agargaon, Mohakhali, Moghbazar, Rampura, and near Dhaka College. Along with the bomb blasts, buses were set on fire at three locations in the capital on Saturday evening. A Shikhor Paribahan bus was set ablaze near Jamjam Tower in Mirpur-11 around 7:13 PM.

Similarly, an Abhijat Paribahan bus was set on fire in the Ansar Camp area of Mirpur-1. Around 8:00 PM, an Alif Paribahan bus parked near a car garage in Central Badda was also set on fire. Local media reported no casualties in any of the three arson incidents. It remains unclear who is responsible for the series of explosions and arson attacks. Police stated that an investigation into the incidents is underway. As explosions and public transport arson repeated across various locations in the capital over the past two days, questions have been raised regarding Dhaka's security arrangements. Police have initiated an investigation to identify those involved and determine the motive behind the incidents. — ANI
