Landslides Disrupt Major Highways: Prithvi and BP Highways Completely Blocked

KATHMANDU — Continuous rainfall accompanied by floods and landslides has severely disrupted several major national highways and road sections across Nepal. According to the Nepal Police status update released on Saturday morning, key roads across multiple provinces remain either completely blocked or reduced to single-lane traffic.

In Bagmati Province, the Prithvi Highway is completely halted following a landslide at Galaudi in Gajuri Ward No. 5, Dhading, while vehicle movement on the BP Highway has come to a complete standstill due to flooding at Pinthali in Roshi Ward No. 9, Kavre. However, the Khatripauwa section of the Tribhuvan Highway in Dhading has been partially reopened to one-way traffic after clearing debris, whereas major highways in Rasuwaj district remain fully closed due to severe flooding.

In Gandaki Province, the Beni–Jomsom road is reduced to one-way traffic following a landslide at Baisari, Myagdi, and the Janti landslide area along the Kaligandaki Corridor in Nawalparasi East has reopened for one-way traffic, though heavy vehicles are still unable to pass. Additionally, the Besisahar–Khangsar road in Manang is operating on single-lane traffic only due to flash floods.

In Lumbini Province, the Kaligandaki Corridor is completely obstructed due to a landslide at Rakse, Gulmi. Meanwhile, in Karnali Province, traffic along the Bheri Corridor at Tripurasundari, Dolpa, is moving via a single lane following a landslide, but the Baluwasangrahi road section at Bangad Kupinde, Salyan, is completely blocked by a landslide.

The Department of Roads and security agencies are actively working to clear the debris and restore transport routes. Traffic police advise travelers to verify the latest road conditions before setting off on any journeys.
