Jitendra brings 'Pardeshiko Deusi Vailo', capturing the pain of Nepalis celebrating Tihar abroad
Kathmandu: For Nepalis, Tihar is a symbol of warmth, love, and bond between brothers and sisters. However, for those living abroad in search of employment and various opportunities, this festival is often intertwined with the pain of being away from family. Capturing these very emotions, the song 'Pardeshiko Deusi Vailo' (Deusi Vailo of a Foreigner), voiced by singer Jitendra Shrestha and singer Mina Dumre Pandey, has been released.
Aimed at the Tihar festival, the song touchingly presents the loneliness experienced by Nepalis living abroad during festivals, the remembrance of family, and the separation between brothers and sisters. The music video portrays the emotional state of not being able to celebrate the festival together with sisters and brothers on the day of Bhai Tika, especially.
With lyrics penned by singer Shrestha, who is based in Boston, USA, and Sudeep Paudel, the song conveys the message that even while living abroad, love for Nepali culture and festivals does not diminish. The song portrays the reality that while festivals deepen family relationships, many Nepalis are unable to share that joy together due to geographical distance.
The music video features performances by actress Aruna Karki, folk singer Min KC, singer Jitendra Shrestha, singer Mina Dumre Pandey, Suresh Gurung, Fatte Gurung, and other artists. The video attempts to depict the emotional relationship between families back in Nepal and relatives living abroad.
The composition and arrangement of the song were done by Prasad Khaptari Magar. Filmed by Sindhu Pokharel and Jit Chopra, the video was edited by Birendra Bhat 'Bipin'. Prepared under the direction of singer Shrestha himself, the video has been released through the official YouTube channel of the Swaranga Band.
Singer Shrestha stated that the Swaranga Band was established with the objective of preserving, promoting, and advancing Nepali folk song and music through Nepalis residing in Boston, USA. In the band, Jitendra Shrestha and Shailendra serve as the main vocalists, while sarangi player Sushil Gautam is associated as a patron.
'Pardeshiko Deusi Vailo' is not limited to entertainment alone. Through this song, a message of social service is also sought to be conveyed. It has been announced that the entire proceeds collected from the song will be handed over to support the flood victims of Bhotekoshi and pregnant women.
