Suman Rai Releases ‘Ae Desh’, a Message of Hope and Homeland

Kathmandu. The musical film ‘Ae Desh’, featuring the voice and composition of singer Suman Rai, has been released. Capturing the country’s current situation, the grief caused by floods and landslides, the compulsions faced by the youth, and love for the motherland, the musical film delivers a message of hope and positive change even in difficult times. Written by Shiva Rai, the song features singer Suman Rai himself in the lead performance, accompanied by actress Bimala Khajum Limbu.

The musical film poignantly portrays the pain brought about by recent floods, landslides, and challenging circumstances in Nepal. Singer Rai shared that the video captures the ups and downs, hardships, and sorrow experienced by a family in their daily struggles.

According to Rai, ‘Ae Desh’ is not merely limited to a song and video; it is an effort to instill hope, courage, and faith in positive change despite tough times. Directed by Nitin Chand Thakuri, the musical film features performances by Suman Rai, Bimala Khajum Limbu, Prachandababu Rai, Laxmi Lamsong, Regina Kattel, Man Bahadur Ketra, Rohit Singh Thakuri, and child artist Silima Ketra. Silima is singer Suman Rai’s daughter.

The musical film highlights the compulsion of Nepali youth to seek foreign employment due to a lack of sufficient opportunities at home, alongside the enduring love for their homeland and villages even while living abroad. Furthermore, the song reflects citizens' concerns regarding the country's political and social situation, their responsibility toward the nation, and their devotion to Nepali culture and identity.

Carrying the message that love and dedication to the motherland must endure regardless of how difficult conditions become, ‘Ae Desh’ inspires hope for a brighter future amid despair. Active in the Nepali music industry for nearly a decade, singer Suman Rai from Sankhuwasabha has previously gained popularity through songs like ‘Aauna Maya’ and ‘Ho Ki Bhanera’. Rai, who is an engineer by profession, continues to pursue his musical journey alongside his career.
