World Food Day Being Celebrated
Kathmandu. Today, World Food Day is being celebrated. Every year on October 16, this day is observed across the globe through various programs.
World Food Day began to be celebrated to commemorate the founding date of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations. The Food and Agriculture Organization was established in 1945. In memory of that, the 20th conference of the FAO, held in November 1979, decided to observe October 16 as World Food Day.
The main objective of World Food Day is to end hunger, poverty, and malnutrition worldwide, and to ensure the availability of safe, sufficient, and nutritious food for all. This day has also been playing an important role in raising public awareness about food security, nutrition, and sustainable agricultural systems.
