Cristiano Ronaldo Marries Georgina Rodríguez
Kathmandu: Portuguese football star Cristiano Ronaldo has married his longtime partner, Georgina Rodríguez. Ronaldo confirmed the news on Tuesday via his official Instagram account by sharing a picture showing the two holding hands and wearing rings.
Ronaldo and Georgina had been in a relationship for a long time and share children together. Although there had been persistent speculation regarding their marriage, Ronaldo officially confirmed it on social media for the first time.
Ronaldo recently represented Portugal in the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which marked the final World Cup of his career. Portugal was eliminated from the tournament after a 1–0 defeat to Spain in the Round of 16, with Mikel Merino scoring the decisive goal for Spain.
Despite creating scoring opportunities, Portuguese players including Ronaldo and Bruno Fernandes failed to convert them, preventing the team from reaching the quarterfinals.
Prior to the match against Spain, Ronaldo had already announced that the 2026 World Cup would be his last, bringing an end to his 20-year journey in the tournament. He made his World Cup debut in 2006, where Portugal finished fourth. Subsequently, Portugal reached the Round of 16 in 2010, the group stage in 2014, the Round of 16 in 2018, and the quarterfinals in 2022.
Ronaldo played a total of 27 World Cup matches—the second-highest number by any player in history—scoring 11 goals. In the 2026 edition, he scored three goals in five matches.
Although he was unable to win the World Cup trophy, Ronaldo has enjoyed a long and successful career in club football. Following his final World Cup appearance, a new chapter has now begun in his personal life. — ANI
