Man Arrested for Character Assassination of a Minor

Kathmandu: A man involved in the character assassination of a minor has been arrested.

On Wednesday, police arrested 19-year-old Sudip Katuwal, a resident of Shivapuri Rural Municipality-7, Nuwakot, on charges of involvement in defaming a minor.

According to the Cyber Bureau, Katuwal befriended the minor on Facebook, manipulated her, posted sexually explicit material on social media to assassinate her character, and extorted money from her. He was apprehended following an investigation into the matter.

The Kathmandu District Court has granted a 7-day remand under the Electronic Transactions Act, 2063 (2006) to allow police to conduct further investigation into the crime.
