High Demand for Chandra Panta's 'Aa Bata Aama' Abroad Leads to Sold-Out Rights in Four Countries
Kathmandu: The emotional Nepali family drama, 'Aa Bata Aama' (A for Mother), produced by Arya Entertainment, has achieved significant international success with its screening rights being completely sold out in four key foreign markets.
The production team announced on Thursday that the film's rights have been acquired for the UAE, Qatar, Bahrain, and Israel, reflecting a massive demand for Nepali cinema abroad.
This international distribution success follows the earlier acquisition of the film's rights for Australia and New Zealand by Himalu Entertainment Pvt. Ltd., indicating a notable surge in the film's popularity even before its domestic release.
Director Chandra Panta, who is credited with the story and direction, welcomed the enthusiasm from foreign distributors, viewing it as a highly encouraging and positive signal for the future of Nepali filmmaking.
Panta's last directorial venture, 'Hraswa Deergha', marked a successful debut for him last year, adding to the anticipation for his latest work.
The film's narrative centers on the deeply sensitive themes of a mother's struggle, her responsibilities, and the complex societal behavior directed towards her.
It features a powerful slogan that has already captured public attention: "Parents built the home with sweat, we had to make a 'passport' out of desire and necessity."
This phrase encapsulates the emotional depth of the story, which is understood to be a profound exploration of the relationship between parents and their children.
The ensemble cast includes esteemed actors such as Bipana Thapa, Pradeep Rawat, Paul Shah, Saigress Pokharel, Anshu Maharjan, Simran Panta, Usha Upreti, Bishal Pahadi, Rabindra Jha, Gajit Bista, Hemraj Adhikari, Dilip Ukheda, and Rachana Gautam.
Domestically, RR Films has acquired the distribution rights for Nepal, while OSR holds the digital rights for the feature.
The director expressed great excitement as 'Aa Bata Aama' prepares for its nationwide release across Nepal on Magh 16
