Passenger Microbus Plunges into Karnali River in Dailekh; Rescue Operations Underway
A passenger microbus has met with an accident and plunged into the Karnali River at Sangetra in Chamunda Bindrasaini Municipality-7 of Dailekh district, along the Karnali Highway.
The Force Traveler (microbus) with registration number Karnali Province 02-001 Kha 1055, which was heading toward Kalikot from Surkhet, veered off the road and fell approximately 400 meters down into the river.
According to preliminary reports, there were five people on board, including the driver. The driver has been identified as roughly 28-year-old Tularam Subedi, a resident of Panchapuri Municipality-8 in Surkhet.
Security personnel and local residents rushed to the spot and are currently engaged in rescue operations. So far, one male passenger has been located and is being brought up to the road.
The search and rescue operation for the vehicle submerged in the river and the other missing passengers has been intensified. Detailed information regarding the incident and the full extent of the casualties are still awaited.
