The Postal Service Must Be Modernized by Understanding the Importance of Time: Communications Minister

Minister for Information and Communications, Dr. Bikram Timilsina, has stated that effective service delivery is not possible without modernizing the postal service.

Speaking at a high-level dialogue program on the modernization of the postal service, Minister Timilsina expressed the government's commitment to ensuring that all types of documents and parcels are delivered to their destinations on time through the postal system.

He informed that the government is moving forward to solve the existing problems by collaborating with the Department of Postal Services and private service providers operating in this sector.

"The government is committed to delivering all kinds of documents and parcels through the postal service on time, whenever desired, on a voluntary basis. For that, we have come forward to listen to and solve the problems by collaborating with the Department of Postal Services and private service providers in this sector. Now, without modernizing the postal service, without making it strong or effective, and without reducing the service delivery time, the postal service cannot survive as a popular service provider," he said.

Minister Timilsina emphasized the need to make the postal service modern, strong, and effective, as well as to reduce service delivery time, noting that otherwise, the post office will not be able to sustain itself as a popular service provider.

He added that success can be achieved if the delivery system is redesigned and operated according to the mindset, importance of time, and expectations of the citizens.

Furthermore, he stressed that the postal service should not be limited only to traditional services but must be transformed to keep pace with changing times.
