A New Message-Oriented Song in the Voice of Vinod Baniya and Words of Suraj Upadhyaya

Pokhara. The music video of the song “Yahĩ Dukha Garmala…”—written by lyricist Suraj Upadhyaya and sung by singer Vinod Baniya—was released on Saturday.

The video was unveiled by Tirtha Shrestha, founding member-secretary of the Nepal Academy of Music and Drama, during a special ceremony organized by the Lyricists’ Association in Pokhara. The song’s music was also composed by Baniya himself.

The song highlights the growing trend of youth migration abroad and conveys the message of working hard and living with dignity within one’s own country. Through its lyrics, it raises the question of why the younger generation is compelled to leave Nepal.

Lyricist Upadhyaya said that the song, inspired by real events from rural life, is not only entertaining but also carries a meaningful message.

Singer Baniya stated that this song is one of his personal favorites, saying, “This song will not only touch the audience but also compel those in power to reflect.” He added that he was inspired to create the song because Suraj’s words deeply moved him.

Chief guest lyricist Tirtha Shrestha remarked that the contributions of Vinod and Suraj to Nepali literature and music from Pokhara are unforgettable. He noted that songwriting is a challenging journey and expressed confidence that the balanced combination of singing, visuals, and acting will make the song a success.

The program, chaired by the association’s president Anurag Adhikari, was attended by artist and director Anup Baral, actor Prakash Ghimire, and music video director Netra Gurung, among others, who extended their best wishes.

The event was hosted by secretary Rupindra Prabhavi.The video, presented by Vikram Karki for Kavyalaya, features performances by Karki and Sushma Shrestha,cinematography by Milan Shankar, and music arrangement by Rajesh Bista.
