Over 5 Billion NPR Worth of Electricity Exported in the Month of Bhadra

Kathmandu: Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) exported electricity worth NPR 5,09,24,61,282 in the month of Bhadra alone. During this period, the authority exported a total of 56,56,06,443 units of electricity to the Indian states of Haryana and Bihar, as well as to Bangladesh.

According to the authority, 42,16,21,288 units of electricity were exported through bilateral agreements in Bhadra, generating an income of NPR 3,64,25,28,299. Similarly, 14,39,85,155 units were exported through the power market, resulting in transactions worth NPR 1,44,99,32,983.

While electricity exported through bilateral agreements accounted for the larger share of total exports in Bhadra, a significant volume was also exported through the power market. Meanwhile, electricity exports to Bangladesh are currently suspended following damage to the structures of the Chilime and Trishuli hydropower plants caused by flooding in the Bhote Koshi River.

The authority stated that it has already requested approval from the Indian side to resume electricity exports to Bangladesh using other hydropower plants. The Nepal Electricity Authority expressed its commitment to making electricity exports smoother, more systematic, and reliable in the coming days.
