West Indies Defeats Nepal by 9 Wickets to Secure Super Eight Spot

Kathmandu. Nepal has been defeated by West Indies by 9 wickets in the T20 World Cup. Following this victory in the T20 World Cup currently being held in India and Sri Lanka, West Indies has entered the Super Eight.

By defeating Nepal by 9 wickets in today's match, West Indies secured its third consecutive win, earning 6 points from Group 'C' and qualifying for the Super Eight with one match remaining. Meanwhile, having suffered three consecutive losses, Nepal has been knocked out of the Super Eight race with one game still to play.

Nepal was defeated by England by 4 runs in its first match and suffered a 10-wicket loss to Italy in its second match. West Indies had defeated Scotland by 35 runs in its first match and secured a 30-run victory over England in its second.

West Indies reached the target of 134 runs in 15.2 overs for the loss of 1 wicket. Captain Shai Hope played a half-century innings for the team, remaining unbeaten with 61 runs off 44 balls. Similarly, Shimron Hetmyer remained unbeaten on 46 runs, while Brandon King contributed 22 runs.

In terms of bowling, Nandan Yadav took the only wicket for Nepal. Earlier, after losing the toss and being invited to bat first at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, Nepal scored 133 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in 20 overs.

Dipendra Singh Airee boosted Nepal's target to some extent by playing a half-century innings. He is the second player to score a half-century for Nepal in a T20 World Cup. Previously, Subash Khakurel had scored a half-century in the 2014 T20 World Cup. Dipendra was dismissed after scoring 58 runs off 47 balls. 

Additionally, Sompal Kami remained unbeaten on 26 runs. Lokesh Bam scored 13, Aasif Sheikh 11, Rohit Paudel 5, Aarif Sheikh 2, Kushal Bhurtel 1, and Gulshan Jha scored 11 runs. 

For the West Indies bowling attack, Jason Holder took four wickets, while Akeal Hosein, Matthew Forde, Shamar Joseph, and Roston Chase took one wicket each.
