Lisandro Martínez’s Emotional Message: "The Result Does Not Define Our Journey"

Following Argentina's defeat to Spain in the FIFA World Cup 2026 final, defender Lisandro Martínez shared an emotional message dedicated to the fans. He expressed that despite missing out on the trophy, he remains immensely proud of Argentina’s journey.

Argentina, who were on a mission to defend their World Cup title, lost 1–0 to Spain in extra time during the final. Shortly after, the Manchester United defender took to the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to convey his gratitude to the supporters.

"Even with the pain of not being able to bring home the trophy we all felt we deserved, I am incredibly proud of this jersey, my teammates, the coaching staff, and the entire team," he wrote.

He highlighted that the team's success relies not just on the players, but on everyone behind the scenes—including the management, medical team, kitchen staff, and kit managers.

Martínez thanked the Argentine fans for their love, support, and unity, emphasizing that a single match result should not define their whole journey.

"We faced many hardships, turned the seemingly impossible into possible, and never looked for excuses—we only looked for reasons to move forward," he stated.

He also congratulated Spain on their World Cup victory, acknowledging that they earned the title. Calling it the greatest pride of his life to play for the Argentine national team, Martínez urged fans to maintain their love and unity for the country.

"Thank you so much. Let’s take care of our country. I love Argentina deeply," he concluded in his message.
