NOC Urges Businesses Not to Stock Unnecessary LPG Cylinders

Kathmandu — Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) has urged commercial establishments not to stock LPG cylinders beyond their actual requirement.

Issuing a notice on Thursday, the Corporation requested commercial establishments—including hotels, restaurants, and party palaces—not to hoard LP gas cylinders in excess of their needs.

The Corporation stated that full 14.2 kg gas cylinders are currently being supplied and distributed in the market. According to NOC, full 14.2 kg cylinders have been available in the market for sale and distribution since July 15 (Asar 31).

Despite importing and distributing about 20 percent more gas compared to usual times, NOC’s attention was drawn after receiving complaints that general consumers were unable to easily obtain gas in the market.

Based on complaints and information received by NOC’s Rapid Response Desk, monitoring revealed that several commercial establishments—such as hotels, restaurants, and party palaces—were holding more gas cylinders than necessary.

The Corporation has requested such establishments not to hoard gas cylinders unnecessarily and, if they have already accumulated stock, to immediately sell and distribute them to general consumers through the respective depots.
