Sanyog and Yonggi Depart for South Korea to Prepare for the Asiad

Table tennis players Sanyog Kapali and Yonggi Poudel departed for Seoul, South Korea on Saturday for international training in preparation for the 20th Asian Games to be held in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan. Both players are national champions.

According to Jackie Maharjan, Treasurer of the All Nepal Table Tennis Association, they will participate in a one-month special training session conducted at Doksan High School in Seoul from July 18 to August 18.

Treasurer Maharjan stated that the players are participating in the training at the invitation of Yang Young-ja, the gold medalist of the 1988 Seoul Olympics.

During the training period, the players will reportedly have the opportunity to practice regularly with top South Korean players, meet with players and coaches of the South Korean national table tennis team, observe their training sessions, and exchange experiences.

National Sports Council Executive Committee Member Sikka Suwal Shrestha and Treasurer Maharjan bid them farewell, wishing them a successful training session and an excellent performance in the upcoming Asian Games.

Six players, including these two, have been selected from table tennis for the Asiad. Treasurer Maharjan informed that initiatives are being made to send the remaining players for training as well.
