FIFA Earns $15 Billion from World Cup; Financial Support to Member Nations Set to Increase

The FIFA World Cup 2026 has delivered record-breaking financial success for the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA). FIFA President Gianni Infantino revealed that the tournament generated approximately $15 billion USD in revenue, which is significantly higher than the initial pre-tournament estimate of $11 billion.

According to information shared by FIFA with its member football associations, revenue from ticket sales, hospitality packages, and secondary market ticket trading soared well beyond expectations. In the secondary market, FIFA charges a 15% fee from both the buyer and the seller during ticket transactions.

Following this record revenue, member football associations worldwide are expected to receive increased financial assistance. However, FIFA has not yet made a final decision regarding the criteria and the exact amount to be distributed.

This financial achievement is being viewed as a major success for FIFA President Infantino, who has been facing criticism over various controversies surrounding the hosting of the World Cup.

Ahead of the FIFA presidential election this coming March, Infantino has reportedly secured the backing of more than 200 member nations. Expecting additional grants due to the massive World Cup revenue, many member associations have chosen not to voice any public dissatisfaction at this time.
