Visually Impaired Women's Cricket Team Returns Home After T20 World Cup
Kathmandu. The visually impaired women's team has returned home after playing in the T20 World Cup.
The team, which was defeated by India in the final match, returned to the country on Monday.
Speaking to reporters at Tribhuvan International Airport on Monday, Captain Gita Paudel, a woman with visual impairment, complained that the team could not win the tournament due to a lack of support from the state and having to play with limited resources and facilities.
She said, “We played to the best of our ability given the resources we had. But we are still lacking many things. Despite those shortcomings, becoming the runners-up is a matter of pride.
However, had we received the necessary support from the state, our prestige would have increased further. We would have probably brought back the first trophy.”
She expressed the view that it was a great achievement to reach this stage with only 20–22 days of practice, as they lacked a timely practice ground.
Nepal was defeated by India by 7 wickets in the final match held on Sunday.
