‘Paran’ Gains Nationwide Buzz, to Be Screened on the Most Screens This Wednesday
Kathmandu — When it was released on Kartik 14 (October 31), Paran received only 64 shows across the country.
However, thanks to strong word-of-mouth, the film has now managed to secure the highest number of screenings by Wednesday.
Although Paran did not perform impressively during its first two days, by its sixth day of release it has overtaken both Nepali and foreign films currently being screened in Nepali cinemas to become the most showcased movie.
According to data from the Khalti app at the time this news was prepared, the film has received a total of 132 shows nationwide. In second place is Anmol KC’s Jerry on Top, with 119 shows.
At present, four Nepali films are being screened in theaters across Nepal: Paran, Jerry on Top, Baristha Balram, and Maizaro.
As per Khalti data, Maizaro is limited to only 4 shows, while Baristha Balram has 21 shows.
Meanwhile, foreign-language films are getting comparatively fewer screenings. The re-released Baahubali has 47 shows, Thama has 13, and Kantara 2 has only 6 shows.
Following excellent feedback from both audiences and critics, theaters have significantly reduced screenings of other movies to meet audience demand for Paran, offering it a much higher number of shows.
Viewers have described the film as “an excellent cinema” and shared that it moved them emotionally.
Paran marks the directorial debut of Dipak Prasad Acharya, and it is produced by Baiskot Cinema, a company co-owned by Shekhar Golchha of the Golchha Group and Ranjit Acharya of Prisma Advertising.
