14th Nepal-Africa International Film Festival in Magh
Kathmandu, November 2
The ‘14th Nepal-Africa International Film Festival–2026’ is scheduled to be held in Kathmandu during the first week of Magh (mid-January) next year.
The festival is being organized by the College of Journalism and Mass Communication and Bilakshan Creation, with the co-organization of the Film Development Board, Nepal. According to the organizers, they are currently receiving a flurry of film submissions for the festival.
The organizers have requested filmmakers to submit Nepali films, indigenous films, documentaries, short films, and musical films by the first week of Mangsir (mid-November). Films can be submitted through the FilmFreeway.com platform, the Nepal-Africa International Film Festival website, or by contacting the office of the organizer, Bilakshan Creation, directly.
Dr. Manju Mishra, President of the festival and Principal of the College of Journalism and Mass Communication, stated that the festival, which started 15 years ago, has significantly contributed to cultural exchange through cinema between Nepal and Africa, as well as the rest of the world.
"Along with promoting the culture of Nepal and Africa, we have also been showcasing international films in this festival for the past two years," she said. "Our slogan is that Africa must be seen through an African lens."
Festival Director Dabbu Chhetri announced that the selection process by the judging panel will begin from the second week of Mangsir (late November). The details of the selected films will be made public in the last week of Mansir (roughly mid-December), and the festival will be held in the first week of Magh.
As in previous years, foreign filmmakers are expected to participate this time as well. Awards will be presented to the best films, actors, and technicians.
According to Chhetri, this year's festival will also feature dance training, an interaction on the 'Gen Z' generation in cinema, and a master class. An art exhibition by artists will also be organized.
