Garima Road Race 2082 Successfully Concluded on Garima Bikas Bank's 19th Anniversary
The Garima Road Race, 2082, organized by Garima Bikas Bank Limited on the auspicious occasion of its 19th anniversary with the slogan "Sports for a Healthy Lifestyle," was successfully concluded today, Saturday, the 6th of Mangsir, 2082 B.S.
The second edition of the Garima Road Race, 2082 competition, which was started from the 18th anniversary, hosted a total of 6 events for both men and women across 3 categories: Open, Corporate, and Veteran.
The route for the Open category 10 km race was set to start from the proposed central office building of the development bank in Baluwatar, Kathmandu, proceed through Narayan Gopal Chowk, Hatigauda, reach the office of Budhanilkantha Municipality Ward No. 3, and then conclude back at the same route in Baluwatar, Kathmandu.
Similarly, the route for the Corporate and Veteran category 5 km race was set to start from the proposed central office building of the development bank in Baluwatar, Kathmandu, proceed through Narayan Gopal Chowk, reach the Neuro Hospital, Bansbari, and then conclude back at Baluwatar, Kathmandu.
In this competition, which saw the participation of over 1,000 runners, Olympian runner Ms. Santoshi Shrestha secured the first place in the Open category (Women's 10 km) by completing the distance in 34 minutes and 54 seconds, and Nepal Army's Mr. Rajan Rokaya secured the first place in the Open category (Men's 10 km) by completing the distance in 29 minutes and 12 seconds.
The runners from the Nepal Army were successful in winning all the men's prizes and four of the women's prizes in the Open category of the competition.
Competitors who secured the first, second, third, fourth, and fifth positions in the Open category were awarded cash prizes of Rs. 50,000/–, Rs. 35,000/–, Rs. 20,000/–, Rs. 15,000/–, and Rs. 10,000/– respectively, along with medals and certificates.
Additionally, competitors who secured the first, second, third, fourth, and fifth positions in the Corporate and Veteran category (5 km) were awarded cash prizes of Rs. 30,000/–, Rs. 20,000/–, Rs. 14,000/–, Rs. 10,000/–, and Rs. 7,000/– respectively, along with medals and certificates.
The event saw a large attendance from the development bank's directors, former directors, esteemed shareholders, distinguished personalities from various organizations and bodies, local representatives, journalists, and employees. The development bank's Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Madhav Prasad Upadhyay, delivered the welcome speech and shed light on the objective of the program.
Furthermore, speaking at the closing ceremony of the program, the development bank's Chairman, Mr. Dilip Pratap Khand, stated that human health is the greatest wealth and assured that such programs would be continued in the coming years.
It was also informed that on Sunday, the 7th of Mangsir, 2082 B.S., the development bank will be organizing extensive blood donation programs in 8 different locations and corporate social responsibility programs in 19 locations across the country on the occasion of its 19th anniversary.
