Director Shobhit Basnet Flies to Australia to Arrange Screenings for 'PR'

Kathmandu: Director Shobhit Basnet, who directed the film 'PR' after a gap of ten years, has flown to Australia. He announced at a press conference at a hotel in Naya Baneshwor on Tuesday that he is leaving for Australia and New Zealand for the film's release.

He stated that the film will be screened not just in Australia, but also in New Zealand, through the box office. He mentioned that he is going to arrange the necessary setup for this.

"I am currently going to Australia and New Zealand, in connection with this 'PR'," he said, "for 10-12 days. I'm leaving to prepare for the film to be shown through the box office in New Zealand as well."

He had already screened the film in various Australian cities three months ago. Viewers who watched the film there responded that it felt like their own family's story.

He added, "After Australia and New Zealand, preparations are underway to screen this film in countries like Portugal. Besides these, the exhibition of the film in other countries will also be finalized in a few days."

Shobhit Basnet stated that he created 'PR' to tell the story of others after watching his own family's story.

He added, "Firstly, I got the story of PR from my daughter (Salina). When a child goes abroad, the thought we parents have back in Nepal is that money trees grow in every country like Australia, Canada, and Japan. And the idea was that they should pick that money and send it to us. I used to think that too. Then I realized that it wasn't true."

He explained that when his daughter went to Australia and when he visited there himself, he saw that money doesn't grow on trees, but is earned only through hard work, and he is telling that same story through the film 'PR'.

He appeared confident that Nepali audiences would love his film 'PR'. He said that the song 'Tata Bye Bye' from the film, which was released a few days ago, was extremely well-liked by the audience, and accordingly, the audience is eager to watch the film.

He is extensively working on screening his film in various international theaters. He mentioned that the distribution rights for Japan have already been sold out.

The film, which is set to be released all over Nepal starting on Mangsir 26 (December 12), is expected to be returned to Nepal in a few days for promotion. The Nepali film 'PR' has sold its exhibition rights in Japan. Yuna Digital, a film distributor in Japan, has purchased these rights.

The film features the acting of artists including Nir Shah, Gauri Malla, R.A. Suraj Paudel, Binita Karki, Rajan Kunwar, Pooja Chaudhary, Ashma Adhikari, Mastani, Bimla Khatri, Ganesh Budhathoki, Max Babu, Krishna Thapa, and Nabin Ghayal. Rabindra Khadka, Uttam K.C., and Dikpal Karki will be seen in special roles.

The presenters of this film are Ranjit Sah and Santosh Tiwari, while the producers are Laxman Sapkota and Pradeep Dahal. Ganesh Budhathoki wrote the script, Bande Prasad edited it, and Saurabh Sayami and Saurabh Lama handled the cinematography. R.R. Films is responsible for distribution.SOBIT-BASNET-(2)-1763529339.JPG
