Nepali Congress to Provide Five Lakh Rupees for Footballer Sabitra Bhandari’s Treatment
Kathmandu. The Nepali Congress is set to provide five lakh rupees for the treatment of Sabitra Bhandari (Samba), the captain of the Nepali women's national football team. Nepali Congress Vice-President Bishwa Prakash Sharma shared via social media that he informed the Samba treatment fund about the party's contribution of five lakh rupees.
He stated that he called Pankaj Bikram Nembang, the President of the All Nepal Football Association (ANFA), to convey the news regarding the party's support for the player's treatment fund.
"I have informed the ANFA President via phone that the Congress will provide five lakh rupees to the player's treatment fund. It is essential for all of us to support Samba, a renowned football player who has made significant contributions to enhancing the country's prestige. I wish her a speedy recovery," he wrote.
On Monday, Samba posted on social media seeking help for her treatment, stating that neither ANFA nor the government had taken any initiative. Meanwhile, Kathmandu Medical College (KMC) has announced that it will provide free treatment if she chooses to be treated in Nepal.
