Tribhuvan University to Hold 51st Convocation Today
Kathmandu — Tribhuvan University is organizing its 51st convocation ceremony today with the message of further strengthening its ties with the international academic community. For the first time in the university’s history, a Nobel Prize–winning scientist has been invited as the chief guest for the convocation ceremony.
The chief guest for this year’s ceremony is Japanese scientist Professor Takaaki Kajita of the University of Tokyo, who won the Nobel Prize in Physics in 2015.
According to Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Deepak Aryal, all preparations for the convocation have been completed. He informed that arrangements ranging from the construction of the venue to seating for graduating students and their guardians have been finalized.
More than 16,300 students will receive degrees at the ceremony, and the total number of participants, including students and their guardians, is estimated to reach around 41,000. From various faculties and academic levels of Tribhuvan University, a total of 89,191 students have passed, including those from bachelor’s, master’s, MPhil, and PhD programs.
On this occasion, 25 students who achieved outstanding results across different faculties and levels will be awarded medals. According to the university, a large number of students have graduated from the faculties of Humanities, Management, Law, and Education.
The university has expressed confidence that the presence of a Nobel Prize winner will further enhance Tribhuvan University’s academic prestige and international recognition.
