We will modify the curriculum based on student feedback: Education Minister Pokharel

Kathmandu: Education and Sports Minister Sasmit Pokharel has stated that necessary improvements will be made to the education system and curriculum based on feedback and grievances received from students, teachers, parents, and local communities.

During his visit to Madhesh Province, where he interacted directly with students, teachers, and parents at various schools in Saptari, he emphasized that the suggestions and complaints from students are crucial for educational reform. He informed that the process of developing a new curriculum will move forward by incorporating these suggestions to make required changes to the current curriculum.

He asserted that the practice of designing curricula solely inside closed rooms in Kathmandu must end. "The suggestions and grievances provided by our student brothers and sisters are deeply touching," he said. "Addressing their feedback, we will move forward to make necessary changes to the current curriculum and build a new one."

The ministerial team's Madhesh tour, which began on Bhadra 26 in Dhanusha, concluded at Mahavir Secondary School in Saptari. Throughout the journey, input was gathered from students, teachers, parents, and local communities regarding problems, needs, and improvements in the education sector.

According to Minister Pokharel, the trip provided firsthand insights into local problems and practical challenges in education that are not easily understood while sitting in Kathmandu. He stated that the experiences and feedback collected—from classrooms to the wider community—will serve as a vital foundation for drafting upcoming education legislation and designing a new national curriculum.

He further noted a significant need for quality engineering education in Madhesh, alongside expanding agricultural education and establishing an agriculture college as essential requirements for the region.
