Bhotekoshi Flood: 1,386 Bodies Recovered
Kathmandu: As of 8:00 AM on Sunday, 1,386 bodies have been recovered following the devastating flood in Rasuwa's Bhotekoshi.
Among the recovered bodies, 185 were found in Rasuwa, 199 in Nuwakot, 71 in Dhading, 364 in Chitwan, 77 in Gorkha, 38 in Tanahun, 230 in Nawalparasi East, and 222 in Nawalparasi West, bringing the total to 1,386.
To identify the recovered bodies, necessary procedures—including DNA sample collection—have been carried out, and 1,230 bodies have been safely buried so far. For identification purposes, a total of 3,132 DNA samples have been collected, including 1,286 from the deceased and 1,846 from their relatives.
Additionally, details of 1,354 unidentified bodies have been uploaded to the Nepal Police website.
A total of 7,975 police personnel have been deployed to date in the flood-affected areas for rescue, search, relief distribution, and body management operations. Search efforts are currently ongoing for 4,089 missing persons.
Furthermore, 2,712 individuals are currently being accommodated across holding centers in various districts.
