Rescue operations become easier for those trapped in the Chilime Tunnel as sludge is rapidly cleared

Kathmandu. Search and rescue operations have become easier for those trapped inside the tunnel of the Chilime Hydropower Project, which was affected by a devastating flood in Rasuwa's Bhotekoshi River.

The search and rescue effort was eased after completing the work of clearing debris and sludge using excavators.

Since Saturday morning, excavators have been used to clear debris and sludge to search for those trapped inside the tunnel. According to engineer Gokarna Chaudhary, the rescue team has now entered the tunnel to continue rescue efforts.

Rescue work became easier after the team opened the access route to the tunnel by removing thick sludge, stones, and concrete piled up by the flood.

The team is continuously clearing debris to locate the condition of the workers and others trapped inside the tunnel and to rescue them safely.
