Triveni International College Holds Annual General Meeting

Lekhnath – Prof. Dr. Indra Prasad Tiwari, Vice-Chancellor of Gandaki University, has stressed the need for practical and employment-oriented academic plans to reduce the migration of students abroad.

The 10th Annual General Meeting of Triveni International College was inaugurated on Saturday in Lekhnath. Speaking at the event, Vice-Chancellor Tiwari noted that students often migrate overseas because they do not feel confident about the university’s academic courses.

He further stated that Gandaki University has been preparing curricula focused on technology and research, and that the provincial government has entrusted the university with additional responsibilities in the research sector. He clarified that by the end of this academic session, around 60 IT students would be entering the job market and urged institutions to provide them with employment opportunities.

Vice-Chancellor Tiwari emphasized that students should be taught in a way that enables them to become competent to enter multiple employment sectors. He also highlighted the need for a supportive environment where students can continue their studies alongside work.

He expressed concern that most parents only become aware of their children’s potential when they are about to go abroad and noted that there is a growing perception among students that there are no opportunities in the country after completing +2 education.

The program was attended by several dignitaries, including Januka Parajuli, President of Lekhnath Chamber of Commerce; Murari Sharma, President of Lekhnath Drinking Water Users’ Committee; Yam Bahadur Roka, President of Hissan Kaski; Ramesh Bhattarai, Principal of Bhawani Kalika Secondary School; former college President Rajendramani Lamichhane; outgoing President Baburam Giri; College Chief Yadunath Acharya; Assistant Chief Dilliram Paudel; Sudin Mohan Bhattarai, President of the Student Welfare Committee; and Asim Pandey, President of the Triveni International College Alumni Association. They all spoke about the academic quality of the college.

Program Chair Suman Bhattarai stated that there should be no segregation in education between government, community, and private institutions. He added that, since the college does not charge fees, no student should be deprived of education.

He also mentioned that arrangements have been made in collaboration with various organizations to provide scholarships for talented and economically disadvantaged students.

Triveni International College, affiliated with Tribhuvan University, offers undergraduate and postgraduate classes in management. Currently, around 600 students are studying at the college, highlighting its significant contribution to the region’s educational development.
