Pokhara Engineering College Students Visit Environment-Friendly Hoffmann Kiln

Kathmandu: Engineering students studying at Pokhara Engineering College visited Nepal’s first hybrid Hoffmann kiln for Chinese brick production, located in Rupa Rural Municipality, Kaski.

The students toured the company, which is based on environmentally friendly and energy-efficient technology. The visit was facilitated by the manager of Pokhara Eco Red Brick, Bikas Duwal.

Krishna Bhakta Duwal, Chairman of Pokhara Eco Red Bricks Pvt. Ltd., informed the students about the importance of environmentally friendly and energy-efficient technology. He said that initially, they started producing Chinese bricks using German technology at the Hoffmann kiln, and in recent years, they have also been producing perforated (hollow) bricks locally in Pokhara.

The company has its industry set up on 100 ropanis of land for brick production. The brick kiln is located approximately 20 kilometers from Pokhara and Damauli.

In Nepal, there are various types of bricks, including regular local bricks and Chinese bricks, as well as block bricks. Additionally, there are attractive varieties such as “Pol Apa” (Jhigti) and “Chik Apa” (Telia bricks).
