Majority of NCCs from Europe, America, and the Middle East Reject MIS System Controlled by Badri KC

Kathmandu — A large number of National Coordination Councils (NCCs) of the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) from Europe, the United States, and the Middle East have outright rejected the MIS (Membership Information System) controlled by the Badri KC faction, citing a lack of transparency and legality.

Despite the Supreme Court’s mandamus order forming a unification convention under which Mahesh Kumar Shrestha was elected as ICC President, the KC group has barred the Shrestha-led team from accessing the NRNA Secretariat.

Still claiming authority, the Badri KC faction is pushing for a global general convention in October, pressuring NCCs to register members through their disputed MIS system.

Several NCCs, including those from Japan, Australia, Canada, Ireland, and UAE, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Shrestha-led ICC, clearly stating they will not use the KC-controlled MIS system.

The NCC of Malta suspended its membership registration process on May 26, 2025, citing “technical and organizational disagreements” and abuse of the MIS platform.

Meanwhile, the KC faction has threatened to dissolve NCCs that refuse to use its system. One such attempt, to revoke NCC Belgium’s recognition, was dismissed by the Shrestha-led ICC, stating it holds no legal authority.

Sita Sapkota, President of NCC Belgium, called the move “illegal and undemocratic,” asserting that decisions by an unrecognized group cannot override those of a legitimately elected committee.

Prominent NRNA activists including Guras Paudel (Switzerland) slammed the KC group’s actions as a “shameless dance in the name of saving NRNA,” while Krishna Tiwari termed it “destructive foolishness.”

The rift highlights deepening division and distrust within the global NRNA community, raising concerns over its democratic integrity and international image.
