Agreement Reached for Unity Convention of NRNA Malaysia on August 30 and 31
Malaysia – An agreement has been reached to hold the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) Malaysia convention on August 30 and 31, 2025.
The decision was made during a “Grand Gathering for Unity” held on Saturday at Hotel Grand Continental in Kuala Lumpur. The date was finalized with the consensus of various organizations, NRNA Malaysia’s patrons, former presidents, office bearers, and representatives from several institutions. With this agreement, the internal disputes within NRNA Malaysia have been resolved, and the organization has now unified, according to NRNA ICC Vice President Khagendra Nyaupane.
As per the agreement, the convention will be held on August 30–31, 2025. Membership distribution and renewal must be completed within two weeks starting from July 21. The membership fee has been fixed at 20 Ringgit per person.
Addressing the gathering, ICC Vice President Khagendra Nyaupane emphasized that the organization must move forward in a unified manner by including everyone without causing a split. He remarked that Malaysia has given a positive message to NRNAs across the world. Despite any central-level disputes, reconciliation and unity in Malaysia are essential, he said. “The NCC does not belong to any faction. All NCCs of respective countries hold full authority. All organizations and political groups in Malaysia must come together for a joint convention,” he clarified.
Outgoing NRNA Malaysia President Binod Thapa highlighted the need to resolve problems through dialogue. “We should not make a mountain out of a molehill,” he said. “Instead of blaming each other, we should have focused on solutions.” He expressed his satisfaction that such progress had finally been made.
NRNA Malaysia patron Shankar Bahadur Paudel stated that Nepali society is rooted in mutual cooperation, fraternity, and unity, and that NRNA should reflect the same values.
NRNA Malaysia President Rakesh Mahato also expressed his support for the gathering’s decision, saying the organization should move forward by forgetting the bitter experiences of the past. “No one can exist outside of society; thus, we have all come to a mutual agreement,” he said.
Vice President Indra Bahadur Limbu shared that although there was a mutual understanding for alternating leadership between the two chairpersons in the previous convention, failure to implement this caused problems. “Let us not dwell on the past but focus on making the organization prosperous,” he advised.
Nepal’s Tourism Envoy to Malaysia and Rastriya Swatantra Party Malaysia Coordinator Netra K.C expressed his happiness over the newly formed unity within NRNA Malaysia and called for moving ahead with new energy.
Chairman of CPN-UML Malaysia, Dayaram Kumal, commented that the organization had weakened due to the actions of a few individuals and emphasized that the time had come to choose unity over division. He expressed his happiness that the organization was now united.
Chairman of CPN-Maoist Center Malaysia, Prem Pandey, remarked that dialogue is the only permanent solution to any problem and that maintaining the dignity of NRNA requires the active participation of all. He also expressed his happiness that the disputes had been resolved.
NRNA Malaysia Youth Coordinator Raju Lama, National Youth Union Nepal representative Mohan Ghimire, President of Nepal Association of Foreign Employment Agencies Malaysia Kamal Gautam, former CPN-UML Malaysia Chairman and businessman Sher Bahadur Gurung, businessman Bijay Mandal, NRNA Malaysia Vice President Dil Kumar Kerung, and others urged moving forward with unity and new energy through a common platform.
According to Sunday’s agreement, a convention committee will be formed under the coordination of President Rakesh Mahato, who will be responsible for organizing the event in a grand manner. All the organizations in Malaysia have signed the agreement.
