Discussion Between NRN President Shrestha and FNCCI President Dhakal on ‘NRN Investment Summit’

Kathmandu, July 23 – President of the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA), Mahesh Kumar Shrestha, and President of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI), Chandra Prasad Dhakal, held discussions regarding the upcoming ‘NRN Investment Summit 2025’. During the meeting, President Shrestha urged FNCCI President Dhakal to extend full cooperation to ensure the success of the summit, which is scheduled to be held in Kathmandu on October 11–12, 2025 (Asoj 25–26, 2082 BS).
The decision to organize the summit during NRN Day was made during the fifth meeting of the NRNA International Coordination Council with the goal of contributing to Nepal’s economic prosperity. President Shrestha stated that the summit aims to bring about policy-level transformation, highlight the government’s commitment to promoting investment, and establish the private sector as a strong partner.
He further added that recent government initiatives — including legal reforms, implementation of a one-stop service system, expansion of partnerships in infrastructure and energy sectors, and efforts to streamline service delivery through digitalization — have made Nepal an increasingly attractive destination for both international and NRN investors.
According to Shrestha, the summit’s key objectives include promoting an investment-friendly environment in Nepal, creating employment opportunities, supporting industrialization, facilitating the transfer of science and technology, strengthening NRNs as long-term partners, and building a tripartite collaboration among the government, private sector, and the diaspora.
On the occasion, FNCCI President Dhakal expressed the full commitment of the private sector to support the NRN Investment Summit. He also urged NRNs to invest sustainably in Nepal and to actively participate in policy-level initiatives. He emphasized that there are ample investment opportunities within Nepal, with well-prepared project pipelines and the potential for good returns.
Dhakal also stressed the need for strategic collaboration between FNCCI and NRNA, expressing confidence that new investment possibilities in Nepal can be uncovered through such cooperation. He encouraged unity among NRNs in contributing to this effort.
The summit in October is expected to be attended by NRN investors, domestic investors, development partners, policymakers from the Government of Nepal, and other concerned stakeholders.
