Khag Raj Gautam Announces Candidacy for General Secretary of NRNA Japan

Tokyo – Senior journalist and social worker Khag Raj Gautam (Bishwas) has announced his candidacy for the position of General Secretary of the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) Japan.

Currently serving as the spokesperson of NRNA Japan, Gautam stated that he is running for the General Secretary post for the 2025–2027 term with the aim of promoting transparency, accountable leadership, and institutional development within the organization. "I will work to build an NRNA that every Nepali living here can trust, based on the organization’s laws, statutes, and the legal system of Japan," he said.

He added, "During the upcoming two-year term, my main objective will be to lead NRNA Japan towards institutional development so that even the most ordinary individual can say: ‘NRNA Japan is my closest companion in both sorrow and happiness.’"

Gautam, who is also the editor of Janahit News, serves as the coordinator of the audit and disciplinary committee of the Galkot Society Japan. He urged all registered Nepali members in Japan to support and elect him as General Secretary in the 12th NRNA Japan General Convention scheduled for July 27.

"With 25 years of experience in journalism, 12 years of work in non-governmental organizations, and three previous terms contributing to NRNA Japan from outside the executive team, including currently serving as spokesperson, I am contesting for the General Secretary position to apply all of my experience and knowledge to strengthen NRNA Japan," he explained.

He also stated his commitment to work toward uniting both the NRNA International Coordination Council (ICC) and the NRNA Japan National Coordination Council (NCC).

Gautam emphasized that he is running for the General Secretary post to play a coordinating role in effectively implementing the existing rules, regulations, and policies of the organization, so that every Nepali can trust the institution. He added that he would work to update the statute with expert involvement as needed and to operationalize departments and task forces through clear guidelines.

Similarly, he expressed his commitment to actively support the completion of the "Integrated Nepali House: Multicultural Center," a project under the NRNA Japan’s "Dream Project" initiative, inspired by the vision that "The Nepali House is Our Shared Dream."

"Especially after joining NRNA, let’s leave behind the practices of the past and focus solely on the goals of NRNA. Let’s not let external political influences affect the organization’s operations. Let’s stay focused on fulfilling the actual purpose of NRNA," he said.NRNA-kagendra-gautam-1752551511.jpg
