Samriddha Khabar ÷ The 11th Annual General Assembly of Annapurna Consumer Cooperative Society Limited, Pokhara, was held on Saturday at the hall of Tallo Naya Gaun Tole Development Committee, Ward No. 15, Pokhara.
The program was inaugurated by lighting a traditional lamp by Bishwo Prakash Prasai, Founder Chairman of the National Educational and Social Development Organization (NESTO Nepal) and social activist.
Speaking as the chief guest, Prasai congratulated the cooperative for being able to provide an 8 percent dividend even in the current situation. He praised the cooperative’s ability to manage transparently and provide returns to shareholders, highlighting it as one of the exemplary cooperatives in Pokhara.
He stated that the leadership, committees, sub-committees, and staff have played a significant role in making the cooperative successful. Referring to past instances where cooperative leaders faced legal action due to non-compliance with rules, he stressed that the institution must continue to safeguard its reputation in the future.
In his remarks, the chief guest further emphasized that no political, religious, or other forms of discrimination should exist within the cooperative. He added that, in the future, members should vote based on the personality and integrity of the candidate rather than their election symbol.
Extending greetings for Vijaya Dashami and Deepawali, Prasai noted that although Dashain and Tihar are major Hindu festivals, the well-wishes shared during the occasion are meaningful for people of all religions.
Addressing the program, auditor Bishnu Baral stated that he thoroughly examined the accounts of the cooperative and found no financial irregularities. Similarly, member Nisha Gurung expressed that the cooperative has lived up to the trust of its investors by performing excellently.
During the program, Chairman Captain Naresh Thapa presented the annual progress report of fiscal year 2081/82 and the program for 2082/83. Treasurer Captain Thakur Bahadur Thapa Magar presented the financial report, while Cooperative Store Coordinator Captain Prem Bahadur Thapa Magar presented the store’s report.
The assembly unanimously approved the reports presented by the officials. It also authorized the executive committee to appoint an auditor and determine remuneration for the current fiscal year, review employee facilities, revise savings and loan interest rates, and reconsider house rent.
The event also honored the best shareholder officials, best shareholder members, best employees, best customers, as well as senior members of the cooperative.
The program was conducted under the chairmanship of Cooperative Chairman Captain Naresh Thapa, with a welcome speech by Vice Chairperson Bimala Gurung and operation by outgoing Secretary Mahesh Kumar Thapa. The news was transmitted by Radio Samriddha’s correspondent Sushma Prasai.
