UN, EU, and Caribbean Community Condemn US Military Action in Venezuela

Kathmandu — The United Nations, European Union, and the Caribbean Community have jointly strongly condemned the US military operation in Venezuela and the arrest of President Nicolás Maduro and his wife.

These organizations described the action as a serious violation of international law and a threat to regional stability.

UN Secretary-General António Guterres expressed deep concern over the incident, warning that the US military intervention sets a dangerous precedent with far-reaching regional consequences.

He emphasized the need for full respect for international law, the UN Charter, human rights, and the rule of law, urging all parties to engage in inclusive dialogue.

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen confirmed that the EU is closely monitoring the situation and continues to support a peaceful, democratic resolution in Venezuela.

The European Parliament strongly criticized the US intervention as a clear violation of international law and destabilizing to the region. Chair of the Security and Defense Committee, Marie-Agnes Strack-Zimmermann, stated that the US is damaging the credibility of the West and called on Europe to strengthen a unified foreign and security policy.

Meanwhile, the Caribbean Community held an emergency meeting, expressing deep concern over the developments and their potential impact on neighboring countries.

The regional body stated that it will closely monitor the situation and keep the Caribbean region informed.
