U.S. Deploys Troops to Nigeria Following Recent Attacks
Following a series of recent attacks in Nigeria, the United States has deployed its military forces to the country. This information was reported by the Associated Press, citing U.S. Africa Command chief General Dagwin R. M. Anderson.
According to General Anderson, the decision was made after a meeting with Nigerian President Bola Tinubu in Rome last year. However, the official date of the troops’ arrival in Nigeria has not been disclosed.
After the United States carried out an airstrike on December 25 against a terrorist group affiliated with the Islamic State, military cooperation between the two countries has further strengthened.
The United States has long been providing Nigeria with military equipment, intelligence support, and assistance in surveillance missions.
However, the specific terms of this newly initiated military cooperation have not yet been publicly clarified.
