Service Seekers Frustrated as Bhaktapur Juvenile Court Still Lacks Official Website
By Sanjib Dulal
Bhaktapur – The Juvenile Court in Bhaktapur, established to hear cases related to children, is yet to launch its official website, causing inconvenience and frustration among service seekers and legal professionals.
The court handles juvenile cases from Kathmandu, Lalitpur, Bhaktapur, and Kavrepalanchok districts. However, due to the absence of a digital system, both lawyers and service users are forced to visit the court in person to obtain basic information such as case schedules and hearing dates.
Legal professionals traveling from outside Bhaktapur have reported difficulties caused by the lack of an online platform. "Even for minor updates, we are compelled to travel all the way to the court," one lawyer said. Lawyers based in Bhaktapur have also stated that they must physically visit the court premises to check hearing schedules.
Dilsova Suwal, the registrar of the Bhaktapur Juvenile Court, informed that the website is currently under development and will be launched soon. “Once the website is ready, access to information will be much easier,” she assured.
At present, the court is reviewing around 250 juvenile-related cases, all being heard by Judge Upendra Prasad Gautam through a single bench.
Service seekers claim that the lack of a website has directly affected the efficiency of court operations. “We face delays simply because we don’t know which cases are scheduled on which dates,” said one visitor.
Although the government has pledged to accelerate the implementation of a digital justice system, the slow pace of practical execution remains a major concern for those relying on the system.
