Competitive Dairy-Milking Reality Show ‘Doodh’ to Begin

Chitwan – For the first time in Nepal, a competitive reality show on dairy milking called ‘Doodh’ is set to start among livestock farmers. The program has been created by selecting 20 farmers from Bharatpur who sell milk through cooperatives that focus on milk diversification.

According to producer Rabin Subedi, the show will evaluate farmers not only on their dairy-milking skills but also on their behavior towards livestock, feed management, cleanliness of the barn, and milk quality.

Chitwan, known as a self-reliant district for bringing in advanced cattle, has helped many local farmers achieve economic progress through livestock farming.

“Many of these hardworking farmers have been able to educate their children in universities both in Nepal and abroad,” Subedi said. “This program has been created to honor such diligent farmers.”

He added that based on the response to the first season, there are plans to expand the program further in the future. The show will also document the struggles and hard work of the younger generation involved in livestock farming.

The show will air every Tuesday evening on AP One Television and will also be broadcast on the Mero Serofero YouTube channel and Synergy FM.

Program coordinator Govinda Nyaupane said the show aims to make farmers “idols.” “While most agricultural programs follow the same format, this effort was made with the idea that diversification is possible,” he said.

“This competitive show, conducted in farmers’ barns with experts, technicians, and representatives, will also play a role in promoting coordination among farmers.”

The program is primarily sponsored by Kheti, with promotion support from Bharatpur Metropolitan City.

The judges for the program include Tejendra Prasad Paudel, Senior Agricultural Economist of Bharatpur Metropolitan City; Dr. Shatrughan Shah, Associate Professor at Agriculture and Forestry University; Bhagirath Timilsena, Vice President of the Central Milk Producers’ Cooperative Federation; and Dr. Yagya Raj Pandey, Technical Officer at the National Cattle Research Program in Rampur.milk-photo-1767683211.png
