Ramita ko Pirati: A Story of Breakup, Self-Discovery, and Self-Acceptance
The upcoming film 'Ramita ko Pirati', scheduled for release on February 6th (Magh 23), is generating buzz following the release of its trailer. While male actors often lead Nepali films, this movie centers entirely on the character Ramita.
The film follows the ups and downs in the life of Ramita, a woman in search of true love. Anna Sharma portrays the titular role of Ramita, starring alongside Dhiraj Magar and Binaya Shrestha. Singer Samir Shrestha also makes his acting debut in this film, with the story revolving around these three characters.
In addition to playing the lead, Anna Sharma also serves as the executive producer. This marks her first appearance in a female-centric film. She describes it as an emotional journey of self-recognition, acceptance, and choosing oneself after a breakup.
"The story progresses with Ramita’s emotional journey at its core. Although the film begins with a breakup, it isn't just a breakup story; it's a journey of self-discovery, self-respect, and self-acceptance that follows. We have tried to create something different from regular films," Anna said.
She worked closely with director Sudipta for six months to develop and explore the character. "I spent six months with the director to develop, explore, and adapt to the character. Now that the release is approaching, I am excited. This film and role are very special, and I hope the story we’ve told reaches the audience through the screen," she added.
Anna initially joined the project as an actor after hearing the script, but later took on the role of executive producer after working closely with director Sudipta and producer Sagar Lamsal.
"Initially, our core team was small. Through daily meetings and workshops, we reached a point where we were making decisions together. Producer Sagar ji trusted me with the responsibility of Executive Producer, which became a great learning opportunity for me," she explained. She noted that the role provided both a new kind of pressure and creative freedom.
Anna believes the film carries an important message, particularly for the younger generation and young women. "The film conveys that one must love and care for oneself first before being able to give love to others," she said.
She also mentioned that the film depicts the influence of social media, the search for external validation, and its impact on mental health. Ramita is shown at one stage to be dependent on others' approval, a situation she believes deeply resonates with today's generation.
The romantic relationship between the characters played by Samir and Anna is presented through songs, focusing on the initial stages of love and their connection. For Anna, 'Ramita ko Pirati' is special for three reasons: it is a story entirely about a woman, it is written and directed by a woman, and it marks her debut as an executive producer.
The film is produced by Sagar Lamsal, with Santosh Lamsal as executive producer, R.P. Production as associate producer, and director Subas Koirala as co-producer.
The music features contributions from Sushant KC, Samir Shrestha, Mahesh Kafle, Asmita Adhikari, and Kushal Pokharel. Shishir Bishankhe is the DOP, Sunil Siwakoti is the editor, Kapil Parajuli handled the coloring, and Kritika Baral is the choreographer.
Rich Entertainment and Apple Entertainment will distribute the film in the Kathmandu Valley, while FD Company will handle distribution outside the valley.-1769586837.jpeg)
