NRNA France Finally Achieves Unity After Longstanding Dispute
Kathmandu — Unity has begun within the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) National Coordination Council (NCC). A long-standing dispute in NRNA France has now been resolved. In a meeting held on Sunday evening, under the presence of NRNA President Dr. Hemraj Sharma, a unified NRNA France executive committee was elected, led by Dilip Gurung.
Following the 12th Grand Unity Convention of the International Coordination Council, held in Kathmandu from March 14–16, Dr. Sharma was unanimously elected as President. After this, the process to unify the parallel activities of the NCC began.
After completing face-to-face meetings in Kathmandu, President Dr. Sharma directly traveled to France. There, two committees led by Dilip Gurung and Meen Shrestha merged. According to the agreement, Dilip Gurung will lead the NCC, while Meen Shrestha will serve as an ICC member.
The executive committee includes: Rajendra Shrestha and Lal Bahadur Sodari as Senior Vice Presidents; Raju Basnet as General Secretary; Samiksha Thapa as Treasurer; Neeraj Chandra Sodari and Jeet Kumar Bishwakarma as Secretaries; Nilima Shahi and Bishnu Shahi as Women’s Vice Presidents; Saroj Adhikari as Open Vice President; Shrawan Kumar Mainali as Deputy Treasurer; Yamkala Paudel and Kiran Chalise as Women Coordinators; Milan Rasaily as Youth Coordinator; and members Manoj Gurung, Bishnu Duwadi, Sandeep Gurung, Rambha Tamang, Dipendra Lama, Krishna Maharjan, and Ramna Rai. Lok Bahadur Pun was elected as an ICC member, while Shivram Bhandari is proposed for future nomination.
President Dr. Sharma stated, “After ICC unity, the unification of the NCC is my priority. I am confident that the NCC unity process, which began in France, will soon start in other countries as well.”
He also thanked the founders and former presidents who helped unite NRNA France.
Earlier, the unity process at the central level began on November 30 in the presence of Prime Minister Sushila Karki. The Grand Unity Convention held from March 14–16 aimed to elect a unanimous leadership and send a message of unity.
