Non-Resident Nepali Association Condemns Violence During Peaceful Protest

Kathmandu — The Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) has expressed deep sorrow over the violent incidents that occurred during peaceful protests called by the “Gen Z” generation on September 8, 2025, across Kathmandu and other cities. Police gunfire has reportedly caused 19 deaths and injured 347 people.
The association paid tribute to the deceased and wished a speedy recovery for the injured. It urged the government to provide free treatment for the injured, immediate relief to the families of the deceased, address legitimate demands, conduct impartial investigations, and take strict action against the guilty.
NRNA also emphasized that the rights to freedom of expression, as guaranteed by the Constitution and international laws, must be fully respected.
