NEKPA (Unified Socialist) Proves Communists Are Authoritarian: Purna Basnet

Kathmandu - Purna Basnet, Head of the Publicity Department of Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP) Nepal, stated that the CPN (Unified Socialist) has reaffirmed the notion that communists are inherently authoritarian.
Basnet criticized the party for seeking clarification from leader Ram Kumari Jhankri, who questioned the leadership involved in the Patanjali land scam. He termed the move a reflection of the authoritarian and autocratic nature of communist parties.
“Madhav Nepal, who played a key role in shaping the current leadership of CPN-UML, is now following the path of authoritarianism himself,” said Basnet. “Instead of tolerating questions directed at him, Nepal has become intolerant and has begun to walk the very path of authoritarianism he once criticized.”
Quoting Jhankri, he added, “We don’t know if the party leadership is already a dead carcass, but it certainly stinks.”
He further remarked that it is disgraceful for someone released on bail by the court to impose disciplinary action on those demanding leadership change.
