18 Muzzle-Loading Guns Recovered from Three Locations in Surkhet
Surkhet — Police have recovered 18 units of muzzle-loading guns (bharuwa banduk) hidden in the forests of three different locations in Surkhet district.
Acting on special information, a police team searched various forest areas in Chaukune Rural Municipality and Barahtal Rural Municipality, leading to the discovery of the firearms.
A team led by Police Inspector Bhupendra Shahi from the Area Police Office, Babiyachaur, recovered five muzzle-loading guns from the forest at Sanneghari in Chaukune Rural Municipality–7.
Similarly, a team deployed from the Temporary Police Post, Lagam, recovered 12 guns from the forest in Dhamisen, Chaukune Rural Municipality–1. Another team from the Rani Ghat Police Post seized one muzzle-loading gun from the forest in Jyamire, Barahtal Rural Municipality–1.
According to the police, the guns recovered from all three locations have been taken into custody following standard legal procedures. Further investigation is underway to determine who hid the weapons in the forests and for what purpose, police said.
