Flood Risk from Budhigandaki Extends to Mugling; Police Use Loudspeakers to Warn Residents
Kathmandu: Residents are being urged to take precautions as flooding in Gorkha's Budhigandaki River poses a risk downstream up to Mugling.
The Flood Forecasting Division has placed the area extending to Mugling under high risk and appealed to residents living near the riverbank to remain alert. According to the Division, residents in high-risk areas have been advised to move to safer, higher ground. Meanwhile, riverfront areas in Chitwan and Nawalparasi have been placed under medium risk, with authorities calling for caution.
According to the Area Police Office in Mugling, efforts are underway to raise awareness among locals in light of the potential flood threat. Police reported that they are using loudspeakers (miking) to inform the public about the risks.
Police stated that they received information regarding the flood risk originating in Gorkha and have taken precautionary measures accordingly. According to police, floodwaters have not entered Chitwan so far, and the situation remains normal.
