NEJA Condemns Mistreatment of Journalists During Nepalese Society, Texas Elections
Texas, USA The Nepal America Journalists’ Association (NEJA) has expressed serious concern over the mistreatment of journalists assigned to cover the news during the election and vote-counting process of the Nepalese Society, Texas (NST).
NEJA expressed its deep regret, stating that such behavior by certain community leaders obstructed the free collection of news. The association further noted that journalists were subjected to discrimination, citing a "pick and choose" (favoritism) approach during the event.
Emphasizing that it is reprehensible for responsible individuals to engage in insulting behavior toward media persons active in community journalism, NEJA warned against the repetition of such activities in the future.
While stressing the need for a harmonious relationship between community organizations and the press, NEJA appealed to all organizations to maintain responsible conduct. Additionally, the association expressed its unwavering commitment to standing by journalists against any unusual or unprofessional behavior encountered in the field.
