‘Kindine Ho Kalle?’ Teej Song Delivers a Social Message
Kathmandu. As Nepal's traditional festival Teej approaches, the market is being flooded with new songs. While some artists aim for popularity through flashy and extravagant numbers, others are choosing to deliver meaningful messages through their creations.
In this context, singers Namrata Tamang, Neelam Roka Karki, and Babbi Nembang Limbu have released a Teej song titled ‘Kindine Ho Kalle?’ (Who Will Buy It?), which has already sparked conversations. Reflecting the current social scenario, the song critiques the rising extravagance in Teej celebrations while offering a powerful message about consumerism and societal pressure.
The lyrics of the song are written by D.P. Khanal, composed by Deepak Sharma, with music arrangement by Purushottam Subedi. The mixing and mastering have been done by Kishor Thapa.
The song narrates the simple yet emotional story of a woman who develops desires for a new saree, gold necklace, and earrings after seeing her friends and neighbors wearing them. This relatable storyline captures the impact of social comparison and material expectations on women during the Teej festival.
The music video features actresses Kunjana Ghimire ‘Suntali’, Sanisha Bajgain, and Juna Sundas, with supporting performances by Surendra Basel, Nishant Pariyar, and Sunil Banjade.
The video has been choreographed and directed by Gambhir Bista, shot by Nawaraj Upreti, and edited by Prabin Bhatta. The video is available on the OSR Digital YouTube channel.
