Jagan Sapkota Elected President of NRNA Canada

Shishir Simkhada, Toronto. Jagan Sapkota has been elected as the President of the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) Canada.

In the election held today for the 2025–2027 term, he secured 1,532 votes to claim victory. A total of five candidates had contested for the position.

Other presidential candidates received the following votes: Chanda Adhikari - 1,357, Kiroj Shrestha - 848, Bidhya Bhushan Karki - 1,108, and Suraj Adhikari - 283.

Out of the 6,015 registered voters of NRNA Canada, 5,179 participated in the election.

Sharmila Ranabhat was elected as General Secretary. Hari Barakoti (Atlantic), Pratik Bhandari (Central), and Bishal Thapa (Western) were elected as Vice Presidents from their respective regions.
Indira Rijal was elected as Treasurer, G.R. Bhandari as Deputy Treasurer, Bijay Lamsal as Secretary, and Hemraj Kafle as Youth Coordinator.

Elected ICC members include Kamal Bhattarai, Bishal Ghimire, Pita Paudel, Pitambar Bhattarai, and Dinesh Ghimire.

Other elected members include Sunil Ghimire (Atlantic), Tilaram Sapkota and Tika Pahari (Mississauga), Sita Thada Rana, Sagar Gurung, and Ram Maya Ghimire (Brampton), Bishnumaya Kshetri (Women’s Category), and Bijay Tamang and Shiv Dallakoti (London City).

Five Candidates Elected Unopposed for Two Key Positions

Santosh Dahal, Prajapati Sapkota, and Dr. Punyasagar Marhatta were unanimously elected as Senior Vice Presidents, while Samikshya Karki and Geeta Dawadi Dhakal were elected as Women Vice Presidents.

These unanimous decisions were made during the general assembly held in Scarborough on Saturday. The agreement was reached among the five candidates to resolve prior disputes and elect them unanimously.

Janaki Pandit (Vice President – Federal Government Liaison) and Swikriti Khadka (Youth Coordinator – Women) were elected unopposed, as they were the sole candidates for their respective positions.
